And you would define a "...full, grown-up beard", as what?

In addition, you still aren't making any sense, Jarret. If you have a "...full, grown-up beard", you obviously aren't shaving every day with an electric shaver, now are you?

Cheers,
Joe

Jarhead,

I have a 985RX, and the R2 resistor under the batteries has two black bands side by side at the bottom of the resistor. That end is facing the bottom of the shaver. I hope that this helps you out a little.

I would have posted sooner, but couldn't find the shaver, sorry.

It sounds like you haven't been shaving for a really long time (at least electric) so you may find your technique improving on those areas as time goes by.

You may also find that there are a few spots the electric cannot reach, at least without taking a lot of time and causing irritation.

I have that problem on my Adam's apple. For it, I just use a inexpensive manual razor with a flexing blade. It takes only a few seconds -- much less time than trying different angles every day to cut those few hairs.

You might also try shaving the problem area *before* you shower.

I have the best luck with my neck if I shave before I get in the shower. My beard is perfectly dry, and has a tiny bit of skin oil on it, so it works best for me.

Conversely, my jawline and face are best shaved after the shower.

Since there's no down-side to shaving different parts at different times, that's what I do. And, I get an excellent shave every time.

Jarret,

With all due respect, your response is an over-generalization...in short, just not true. It really depends on the person/their face/beard/shaver used.

I just shaved a 3 day growth using my Panasonic LA93, and it was like a "hot knife going through butter"...no problems whatsover.

JoeD reiterates this in his post above, using a Braun.

Cheers,
Joe

I've always used a Braun and have had the same problem Monday morning (I don't like to shave on weekends), until I upgraded from a 360 Complete (which I think is very similar to the activator line) to the Series 7. That's one of the things I really love about the Series 7 compared to every other shaver I've owned. At one point over the summer, I was on vacation and went I think 7 days without shaving, and when I finally shaved again, I can honestly say that I had no pain whatsoever, even though I went right in with the electric razor and didn't use a beard trimmer or anything. Yeah, I had to go over the same area more than I normally would, but there was zero pain/tugging. No way would that have been the case with the 360 Complete or any other shaver I previously owned.

When using an electric shaver, you have to shave every day.

Hello, I recently bought a replacement head and blade for my activator. But I have found that if I don't shave for a few days the new head will rip hair out rather than cut. It dosent happen a lot but when it does I just feel like throwing it into the bin Anybody else had this problem. The hair dosent have to be that lone either.

 10   General Discussion / Norelco 955RX; Fried Resistor "R2"  on: Nov 11th, 2009, 3:04pm

Replacing the battery pack on the Norelco 955RX, the tabs were spot welded backwards (and I didn't check). The "R2" resistor located under the batteries overheated and charred so I can't read the bands.

Found a picture of the replacement board at
http://www.smallappliance.com/product.asp?pid=12293&cur=USD&cam=247-4885581&sid=19012&gid=19014&pfor=7900&shopBy=Category
But can't make out the colors.

Any suggestions on where to find a schematic? Or does anyone have a 955RX that can take a look?

Thanks,

Steve
